As a certified Adult Learning Centre, we offer a structured classroom credit program for individuals who would like to obtain their Grade 12 Diploma or require specific courses to apply to a post-secondary institution.
The Mature Student High School Diploma is an eight credit diploma program. Four of the credits are at a 40 level (grade 12) with Math and English mandatory. The other four credits can be at the 10 to 40 level (grade 9 to 12).
Individuals who have completed their Grade 12 but require certain courses in order to apply for post-secondary, or who require a higher mark in that course, are able to register for those individual courses.
The Portage Learning and Literacy Centre offers an on-site daycare for our students with children needing this service while attending classes at our Centre.

We offer direct one-on-one support with job searches, writing resumes and cover letters, and job interview preparation for anyone looking for employment or to further their career. We also offer regular workshops on a variety of job search and employment readiness tips. All services are free and available to anyone living in Portage la Prairie and the Central Plains region.
The Portage Work Experience Program is funded provided by Employment and Social Development Canada. This is a youth employment program that provides paid pre-employment essential skills training and work experience to assist individuals between the ages of 15 and 30 to overcome barriers to employment. Participants will develop a broad range of skills and knowledge in order to participate in the current and future labour market, with further education and skills being the key to labour market participation.
Through a partnership with SEED Winnipeg, Portage Learning and Literacy Centre has trained facilitators to offer a variety of Manage Your Money workshops to residents of Portage la Prairie and the Central Plains region. We host at least seven of the workshops at our centre, and can provide any of the workshops at locations throughout the community. If you are interested in hosting a workshop, please contact us!

We offer tax clinics starting in March of each year and runs to the end of tax season. Our tax clinics include: by appointment by contacting our office or by drop-off service. Please fill out the drop-off sheet and include this with your tax documents.
